About UMBC Interactive

This site was project first developed in the summer of 2001 by Colin Ives, at that time a professor in the Visual Arts Department at UMBC, and Trevor McCauley, at that time visual arts undergraduate at UMBC. The goal - to develop an online programming resource for visual arts students.

Dubbed Programming as Artists, the focus was initially and primarily focused on programming in Lingo with Macromedia Director. The Intention was, and still is today, to provide an online, easily accessible learning reference for visual artists (or anyone, for that matter), helping them better understand the technical aspects of the tools used today to create interactive media art.
