The Strength in Solidarity Project: Transforming CRS and Partners’ Capacity to Serve the Poor project (SiS) contributes to the broader, shared CRS and partner goal of improved service to the poor. CRS’ vision at the end of the eight-year initiative is that, as a result of highly effective and efficient accompaniment and capacity strengthening facilitated by CRS, its partners will be among the leading organizations meeting people’s needs and transforming unjust structures.

SiS focuses on three key areas: 1) improving internal CRS systems, structures, and skills that impact agency effectiveness in partner capacity strengthening; 2) enhancing resources (financial and technical) and opportunities to carry out the agency’s capacity strengthening mandate; and 3) facilitating learning and knowledge-sharing around what works in capacity strengthening.

SiS is a global program and works with country programs, regions, and headquarters departments, acknowledging that a significant number of CRS staff around the world are engaged in capacity strengthening and have lessons to share, skills to offer, and particular areas of expertise useful to partners. SiS also works to expand the number and depth of university partnerships; to draw on their expertise in organizational change and to explore management models for communication.

Specific Responsibilities

Instructional Design:

  • Assist in the design and development of custom eLearning to support the Institute for Capacity Strengthening
  • Other research on best practices, trends, and opportunities in partnership and capacity strengthening.
  • Transfer storyboard content from Word to PowerPoint slide deck
  • Search for images in the CRS library and on royalty free sites
  • Maintain files and create back-up copies



  • Edit and arrange material into an eLearning script
  • Write custom navigation script

Multi media:

  • Create relatively simple multi-media (text, video, sound) presentations to accompany/ support eLearning courses

Learning Component:

Use of Rapid eLearning Development Tools:

  • Articulate Studio
  • Articulate Storyline

Use of Instructional Design Planning Tools:

  • Storyboarding

Project Planning:

  • Learn how to develop and follow a project plan
  • Learn how to estimate eLearning project times
  • Meet with clients throughout all phases of project

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Pursuit of a Graduate degree in Instructional Design or other related area.
  • Skills using Powerpoint and other presentation software
  • Experience using rapid eLearning development tools, e.g., Articulate Studio and/or Storyline preferred but not required
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and One Note)
  • Experience using Photoshop or other graphic design/ image manipulation tools is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in cross-cultural settings
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements/Environment

  • Normal conditions for an office environment
