Training/Instructional Design Intern

HR Anew is seeking a part-time, paid Training/Instructional Design Intern, who will work up to 20 hours a week, to work at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD.   Working in collaboration with clients and the Learning and Professional Development team, the Intern will design and develop eLearning coursework using rapid authoring tools.

    The Instructional Systems Design Internship is a part-time opportunity for a graduate student(s) with a passion for learning and professional development who is looking to utilize their knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design skills, project management skills, creativity, and software skills to develop dynamic eLearning programs for individuals and organizations. As an ISD Intern, you will:

    • Design and develop dynamic eLearning programs to support a range of audiences

    • Utilize a range of rapid authoring and design tools to produce engaging and innovative content

    • Manage the training design process from needs analysis through the ongoing evaluation

    • Create learning objectives, instructional outlines, storyboards, and evaluations as part of the training design process

    • Research, evaluate, and propose training resources to be used for content creation, training design, and business development

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure learning and professional development programs achieve desired objectives

    • Work closely with the Director of Learning and Professional Development to develop eLearning strategies to support the growth of the organization


The Instructional Systems Design Internship requires that students have foundational experience designing eLearning programs in a professional work environment or as part of an accredited program. As an ISD Intern, you are must meet the following qualifications or requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Organization Development, Human Resource Development, Adult Learning, or other related areas

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Instructional Technology, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or other related field

  • Certification and experience delivering professional assessments such as Myers Briggs and DiSC is desired, but not essential

  • Membership and/or certification in professional organizations such as SHRM or ASTD is desired, but not essential


  • 2-5 years of experience in a professional work environment, preferably as part of a human resources, organizational development, or operations department/team

  • Experience designing instructor-led and eLearning programs that include measurable objectives, create active learning experiences, and address the needs of adult learners

  • Experience creating dynamic and visually pleasing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations that include custom graphics and animations

  • Experience creating workbooks, job aides, or other learning resources using Microsoft Word

  • Experience contributing as a member of a project team tasked with delivering a program (or product) to address individual or organizational learning needs

  • Demonstrated experience working on learning and professional development initiatives related to the development of interpersonal communication skills, team communication skills, and/or professional behavior is desired

  • Experience using Learning Management System (LMS) to complete training, contribute to discussion boards, and access learning resources
