Outreach and Professional Development

Summer Fellowships for secondary school science teachers are available through the NSF sponsored Extended Professional Experience in Research for Teachers (ExPERT) Program, administered by Towson University, and through the Maryland Seagrant sponsored Professional Development Program, administered by UMCES. Teachers interested in summer fellowships should contact the programs directly 4-5 months before the start of the summer semester.

Public Seminar Series

The DMB faculty and staff participate in an evening seminar series for the general public focused on current scientific discoveries and issues involving the marine environment. These seminars are free, and they are offered approximately four to six times over the year in the SciTech auditorium at the Columbus Center.
