The Maryland Charity Campaign is an opportunity for all State of Maryland employees to help those in need in the greater community. Last year, UMBC gave generously to the Maryland Charity Campaign. This year, we hope to raise $60,000 from UMBC for the Maryland Charity Campaign, and you have the option of designating your gift to the program or programs of your choice.

Please join me in showing that UMBC cares about the greater community by making a gift to the 2004 Maryland Charity Campaign. Your gift, regardless of the amount, will truly make a difference.

The UMBC community has an excellent history of support for the many worthy charities that benefit from the annual Maryland Charity Campaign. Last year, UMBC employees gave generously to help the less fortunate in our community, the region and throughout the world.

The Maryland Charity Campaign can help our donations reach over 700 charitable agencies in Maryland. This approach makes it possible for you to reach many groups with one generous donation. You may choose to donate to agencies that are helping with relief efforts throughout the world, such as the United Way, the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. Or, you may target your donations to specific local charities.

Our goal this year is to raise $60,000. We would like each and every employee at UMBC to contribute something to the Maryland Charity Campaign to show dramatically to our community how much we care. Your pledge will make a real difference to those in need. We will update this thermometer to show the progress being made during the campaign, which ends on November 19, 2004.
