Maryland Charity Campaign
The Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC) provides State of Maryland employees with an easy opportunity to support a variety of charitable causes serving the greater community.
UMBC Faculty/Staff Campaign
The UMBC Faculty/Staff Campaign enables UMBC employees to invest in the University's future, helping us to continue to attract the best students, faculty and staff and to continue to build our national reputation for excellence.
Why give?
Contributions to the MCC fund hundreds of programs and services, providing vital assistance to thousands in need. UMBC's participation in the Maryland Charity Campaign makes a statement that we care about the greater community.
Why give?
UMBC faculty and staff, working here on a daily basis, know the needs of the University first-hand and can witness the results of their philanthropy at work. Your gift to the Faculty/Staff Campaign is a vote of pride--and confidence--in UMBC.
How will my gift be used?
The MCC website (www.mdcharity.org) lists all of the particpating charities; enabling you to designate to those organizations that matter most to you. About 92 cents of every dollar contributed benefits the charity of your choice.

Unrestricted gifts will be used for the University's greatest needs, including day-to-day operating expenses. Gifts may also be designated to go to a particular department, program or scholarship.

Complete and return the MCC payroll deduction pledge card to the MCC coordinator in your department.

Use the Faculty/Staff Campaign reply card to enclose with a check or to make a payroll deduction, or give online using our secure Web site linked from www.umbc.edu/giving.
What is this year's goal?
UMBC's goal is to raise $60,000 for this year's Maryland Charity Campaign. Last year, State employees contributed a total of more than $3.6 million to the MCC.
What is this year's goal?
UMBC's Faculty/Staff Campaign goal is to secure gifts from 450 faculty/staff donors this year. Last year, 440 faculty/staff donors gave more than $172,000 to UMBC.
How much should I give?
Every gift, not matter what the size, matters a great deal. The minimum payroll deduction is $1 per pay period. MCC leadership gifts are a minimum of $500 per year, or 1% of your salary.

When does the campaign end?
Gifts to the 2004 Maryland Charity Campaign must be pledged or received by November 19, 2004.

The Faculty/Staff Campaign ends on June 30, 2005. However, payroll deduction cards must be turned in by December 15, 2004.
Can I give to UMBC through the Maryland Charity Campaign?
While it is possible to make a gift to UMBC through the Maryland Charity Campaign, we hope that you will designate MCC gifts to help organizations serving the greater community. The Faculty/Staff Campaign is the best way to give to UMBC.
