Established in 1992, The McNair Scholars Program at UMBC is one of the longest-running McNair programs in the country.  With fourteen years of alumni, many of whom give back to the program by providing talks, workshops, and seminars on their personal experiences, we consider McNair a “family”.  Other community-building activities include:

 - Participation in graduate school recruitment fairs and special campus visits.

- Orientation visits to graduate schools and research facilities.

- Faculty mentoring.

- The McNair Messenger, program newsletter.

- Ongoing interaction with role models in the form of McNair Alumni, students enrolled in Ph.D. programs, and those who have completed their doctoral degrees.
