MIPAR was established in 1982 on the UMBC campus and is the university’s principal center for applied social science research. We conduct prospective and retrospective policy analyses, program evaluations, case studies and surveys, and undertake studies in a wide variety of areas. Our researchers employ a variety of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and also conduct survey research. Our current (FY08) level of external funding stands at approximately $3.5 million.
