Support for Faculty

MIPAR is now accepting applications for the 2015 MIPAR/CAHSS Summer Faculty Research Fellowships
The deadline for applications is February 15, 2015

The Maryland Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (MIPAR) and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) invite applications for the 2015 MIPAR/CAHSS Summer Faculty Research Fellow. The purpose of this fellowship is for Fellows to develop proposals that will lead to external funding for research activities or for prestigious fellowships. Fellows will receive a $6,000 stipend during the summer of 2015 to support their proposal writing efforts.

Each Fellow is expected to complete a proposal for external funding no later than the end of the fall semester following the Fellowship and is expected to submit a proposal for external funding no later than one year after the beginning date of the Fellowship. All proposals must be submitted for funding through MIPAR and, if funded, applicants and their departments agree that MIPAR will provide post-award grant management.

Applications are welcome from faculty in all departments in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Interested faculty members should complete and submit an application.

Assistance with Grand-funded Research

MIPAR assists faculty members and departments in obtaining funding for their research. Pre-award assistance includes:

  • identifying funding sources
  • proposal development
  • budget preparation
  • assembling the proposal packet
  • ensuring that the proposal conforms to University requirements
  • routing the proposal for University approval.

After an award has been obtained, MIPAR assists faculty members and departments by providing post-grant management assistance, including:

  • hiring personnel
  • preparing payroll
  • purchasing supplies and equipment
  • processing travel requests and expenses
  • budgetary accounting and budget management
  • acting as a liaison with the sponsor or funding agency
  • preparing financial reports for sponsor or funding agency
  • providing secretarial support
