Admissions

General admission requirements include a bachelor'ss degree with at least a B average, three letters of recommendation (including a certification of language proficiency), and satisfactory scores on the aptitude tests of the Graduate Record Examination. International students must also submit satisfactory scores on the TOEFL examination.In addition, applicants for the M.A. in Intercultural Communication should have a working knowledge of the target language such that they can carry out graduate studies and write papers in it. They should also have a grounding in a complementary field (e.g., Sociology, Literary Studies, Linguistics, Education, Africana Studies, Health Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Political Sciences, History, and Ethnomusicology). Students with minor inadequacies in their preparation may fulfill necessary prerequisites concurrent with participation in the program. Students may transfer up to six credits of appropriate graduate work from other universities. Students wishing to take courses in Intercultural Communication without degree candidacy may register as non-degree students by submitting a transcript showing the award of a bachelor'ss degree with at least a B average.
