UMBC Department of Music Application and Audition Information
Application:
To become a music major at UMBC, you must apply to the University and audition for the music faculty. Application forms for the music major can be downloaded here and mailed to:

Apply to UMBC directly through the Admissions Office (phone 410-455-2291). Admission to UMBC does not guarantee acceptance as a music major, as acceptance into the music major is contingent upon a performance audition. Similarly, a successful audition does not ensure acceptance to the University.

Audition:
Contact Connie Bailey in the Music Department office (410-455-2942) to arrange for a departmental audition. Audition results will be mailed the week following the audition.

Students interested in applying and auditioning for the Linehan Artist Scholars program should contact Barbara Shahpazian, Associate Director of Scholarships, for applications and audition scheduling (410-455-3813).

All Music Department auditions are scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2008, Saturday, February 7, 2009 (snow date February 14, 2009) and Saturday, April 11, 2009. Students interested in early acceptance to UMBC must audition in November. Students interested in applying for scholarships are required to audition in February. All auditions last 10-15 minutes and are conducted privately with a small group of music faculty.
