Undergraduate Commencement

Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10 a.m.
in the Retriever Activities Center (RAC)
(Procession begins at 9:50 a.m.)

All faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Graduate School Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 22. If you also plan to participate in the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 23, see the Faculty/Staff/Administration section for details regarding that ceremony.

RSVP no later than Wednesday, May 9, by using the electronic response form. The electronic response form will be available March 1. Completion of the form notifies the commencement staff that you plan to march in either or both of the ceremonies (Graduate School or undergraduate). For seating purposes, we need an RSVP for ALL faculty and staff who will march in either or both ceremonies, even if you have your own regalia.

UMBC will subsidize the rental of academic regalia for faculty and staff. The Bookstore will begin to accept orders for regalia on March 4. To reserve regalia, please use the electronic response form.

If you have previously ordered regalia at UMBC with the online system, your information will automatically appear on screen when you enter your user name. If you have not ordered before, you must enter the following information: your cap size, height with shoes, weight, degree earned and the name of the school where the degree was earned.

Prior to April 1, there is no cost to the faculty and staff to rent regalia. Between April 1 and May 8, a $25 late fee will be charged. No regalia may be ordered after May 8. Even if there is only a slight chance that you will attend Commencement, you should order regalia. It is easier for the Bookstore to return unused gowns and hoods than it is to place a late order and risk not receiving delivery on time.

Regalia will be ready for pick-up at the Bookstore beginning on Wednesday, May 8, and will continue through Wednesday, May 15. Faculty and staff must pick up regalia at the Bookstore by Wednesday, May 15, because regalia will not be available at Commencement.  If you have any questions, call Gail Dupree in the Bookstore at 410-455-3904.
