Why did you choose to attend UMBC?
I chose UMBC because of its location close to Washington DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. They are all great locations for dealing with public policy issues. I was also attracted by the graduate assistantship.
What are your future goals or dreams?
Down the road I hope to run a non-profit that works on community building.
Faculty mentors who made a difference:
I worked with Policy Sciences Professor Royce Hanson for my assistantship, and he was my mentor. Working with him greatly enhanced my experience at UMBC. He has considerable experience in academia and government. He taught me how to think outside the box to develop creative solutions, but also how to stay grounded enough in order to make the new ideas reality.
