B.S.E., Chemical Engineering

Meyerhoff Scholar

Plans: Georgia Tech, Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering

Why did you choose to attend UMBC?
I was drawn to UMBC mainly because of the Meyerhoff Scholarship
Program. I was very impressed with the idea of a family support structure made of other students with the same academic interests as my own, as well as wonderful staff members. The support and love I have received from the program these past four years has been amazing.

What are your future goals or dreams?
In August I will attend graduate school at Georgia Tech, pursuing my
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.  After that, I plan to conduct research in my
chosen field, either in industry or in academe.

Faculty mentors who made a difference:
In the Chemical Engineering department, there were two incredible
professors that helped shape my experience at UMBC: Dr. Julia Ross and Dr. Mark Marten. Both of these professors truly care about the students they teach and how much they learn. Whenever I had a problem or concern about my career at UMBC, they were always willing to listen and give advice and guidance.

Additionally, the Meyerhoff Staff have been amazingly supportive over
the years, especially Mr. LaMont Toliver and Mrs. Earnestine Baker.
