B.A., Music Performance (flute)

Plans: San Francisco Conservatory of Music

Why did you choose to attend UMBC?

I was impressed with its reputation and excited about the small,
personal size of the Music Department. After meeting with the private flute instructor, David LaVorgna and hearing UMBC's community Symphony Orchestra, I was convinced that I should attend.

What are your future goals or dreams?
I will be pursuing a Master of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and after completion I would like to give private flute lessons and play professionally.

Faculty mentors who made a difference:
My flute instructor, David LaVorgna, has been a tremendous influence to
me. He has encouraged and challenged me, helping me to achieve my goals here at UMBC.

Dr. Stuart Smith, the New Music Ensemble director has helped to introduce me to new types of music and ensure that I have a solid knowledge and the performance capability to play the music of our time.

Dr. Morin, a professor and early music specialist has been a constant source of encouragement. The Music faculty in general has been incredible in helping me to succeed in my musical career.

Extracurricular Activities:
UMBC symphony orchestra, new music ensemble, collegium musicum, chamber ensemble and many solo recitals. Performed with groups for Mindfest, Creative Day, and at the home of Dr. Hrabowski.  Last fall she studied music in London. Volunteered for a variety of events along with the Music council.
