James P. M. Atsaides, psychology, sold his consulting company and has become the senior vice president and consulting practice leader of the Mid-Atlantic region for the Manchester Company in Washington, D.C. He resides in Columbia, Md.

Nancy A. Krebs, theatre, is an Emmy Award-winning actress, classically trained singer and multi-instrumentalist. She tours nationally with Interact Story Theatre presenting children's and intergenerational programs. She serves on the theatre faculty of the Baltimore School for the Arts. She also works as a studio musician and operates a private voice studio. She has appeared in productions at Wolf Trap, The Kennedy Center, the National Theatre and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. She resides in Severn, Md.

Susan Daniel, history, is the director of marketing for Boordy Vineyards, Inc., in Hydes, Md. She has hosted several wine tastings for UMBC alumni. She resides in Ellicott City, Md.

Sam I. Gellens, history, is a modern world history instructor for the ninth grade at the Horace Mann School in the Bronx, N.Y. He completed his doctoral degree in Islamic history at Columbia University. Sam resides in Riverdale, N.Y. with his wife Martha and son, Saadya.

Mark Woodard, history with teaching certification, is the vice president of government relations at Health Facilities Association of Maryland. He resides in Columbia, Md.

Mashariki Kurudisha (Bernadette Ross), philosophy, owns and operates an urban planning firm. She assists in the development of housing and commercial real estate and is an expert in the Community Reinvestment Act. She was a professor at University of California at Berkeley where she worked on a project for the Haas School of Business. She resides in Hercules, Calif.

James Mathias, political science, was reelected as mayor of Ocean City, Md., where he resides.

Mark Radecke, theatre, is the chaplain at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., where he also teaches courses in the theatre department. He is the former pastor of the Christ Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Va. and resides in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Nancy Silver Britcher, social work and American studies, is the director of family services at Jewish Family Services. She resides in Knoxville, Tenn., with her husband Tom and their children.

Charles D. Puls, English, is an adjunct faculty member at the Community College of Baltimore County. He is also involved with Coast to Coast Music, a web business that features blues harmonica instruction and related merchandise. He resides in Baltimore.

Roland Owens, biological sciences, was honored with a citation at the Minority Access National Role Models Banquet at the National Role Model Conference in September 2000. The banquet was sponsored by the Office of Minority Health of the National Institutes of Health. Roland received the award for his outstanding research and for being a role model to young potential researchers. He is a tenure track investigator at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. and resides in Arlington, Va.

R. Steve Cassard, political science, is the assistant secretary for real estate with the State Department of General Services in Baltimore. His wife Laura is a high school French and Spanish teacher in Howard County. They reside in Ellicott City, Md., with their three children Jacqueline, Sam and Ariana.

Anita (Maddox) Jackson, health science and policy, won the Purchasing Professional of the Year Award from the Md./D.C. Minority Supplier and Diversity Council in Columbia, Md. She received the award for her group work with the Supplier Diversity Program at BGE, where she is the Director of Procurement Opportunities. She and her husband Everett reside in Pikesville, Md.

Patricia Abbott, nursing and Ph.D. information systems '99, is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing in the education, administration, health policy and informatics department. Abbott was elected to the board of directors of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), serves as chair of AMIA's Nursing Informatics Working Group and has received the AMIA President's Club Award for five consecutive years. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality have appointed her to a national task force on Information Technology and Childrenąs Health. She resides in Joppa, Md.

Annette (Morris) Brewer, geography and environmental systems, is a teacher at Our Lady of Hope/ St. Luke School in Baltimore. She and her husband, Craig Brewer, political science '88, reside in Sparrows Point, Md., with their child Sydney.

Cathy (Van Sickle) Henson, information systems, is a special agent with the Department of Defense in Ft. Meade, MD. She received her master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University in August 2000. She also holds a blue belt in Shotokan karate. She and her husband Norman reside in Denton, Md.

Tamara Lynette (Brown) Whitaker, economics, is a financial program specialist for the U.S. Department of the Treasury. She and her husband Eddie reside in Upper Marlboro, Md.

Michael Lovitch, emergency health services, was promoted to assistant director of the mobile intensive care unit of the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. He resides in Wantage, N.J. with his wife Melissa.

Paul C. Maas, information systems, received his master's degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore in 1997. He has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Maryland Air National Guard. He is an account manager for Compaq Computers and resides in Baltimore with his wife Donna.

Martin F. Smith, M.P.S. policy sciences and Ph.D. policy sciences '96, has been promoted to supervising classification and compensation analyst with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Personnel Services Administration in Baltimore. He and his wife Joyce reside in Jessup, Md.

Kevin Yost, computer science, is a software engineer for the Weirton Steel Corporation. He resides in Steubenville, Ohio.

Sheri Lynne Hoffman, psychology, participated in a church-sponsored mission trip to Hungary in October. She is a senior analyst and accountant for the American Psychological Association. She resides in Bowie, Md.

Eva O'Cronin, psychology, is an assistant at Annapolis Infectious Disease Associates. She resides in Crofton, Md.

Scott Muchow, geography and environmental systems, is a senior Internet systems administrator with Digex, Inc. He resides in Linthicum Heights, Md.

Kelly Dorney, economics, is a training consultant for Witting Associates Inc. She resides in Alexandria, Va.

Frederick Dunn, Jr., visual and performing arts-music, is a trumpeter in the band Fertile Ground led by fellow alumnus James Collins, interdisciplinary studies '99. The band spent 1999­2000 on the road with Chaka Kahn, Eric Benet, Run-DMC, Kirk Franklin, Rev. Fred Hampton, Julie Dexter and many others. In November they opened for soul sensation Jill Scott in Amsterdam at the Crossing Border Festival. It was their first time performing in Europe and they have an 11-city European tour scheduled for the spring of 2001. The band also played at UMBC during Homecoming 2000! Frederick resides in Baltimore.

Elizabeth (Robinson) Jones, modern languages and linguistics, is a procurement representative at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. She resides in Laurel, Md., with her husband Donald and son Lewis.

Sonia (Abraham) Elabd, biological sciences, is a medical editor for a non-profit health organization, JHPIEGO, and is pursuing a master's degree in writing at Johns Hopkins University. Her husband, Yossef "Joe" Elabd, chemical engineering, received his doctoral degree in chemical engineering in October 2000 and is employed by the U.S. Army Research Lab in Aberdeen, Md. They reside in Baltimore.

Jeffrey Michael Gropp, economics, is an assistant professor at DePauw University. He resides in Greencastle, Ind.

Blairlee (Meade) Hawes, history, is the individual giving and campaign coordinator at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. She and her husband Matthew reside in Arnold, Md., with their daughter Kathryn.

Dayong Li, M.S. statistics and Ph.D. statistics '97, is the associate director of biostatistics at Medex, Inc. He resides in Audubon, Pa.

Dawn Page, health science and policy, is the office manager of the George Washington University men's Basketball team. She resides in Fort Washington, Md.

Alyssa (Stokes) Reinhardt, English, is an editor with Watermark Press in Owings Mills, Md. Her husband Jeffrey Reinhardt, economics, passed the CPA exam in 1996 and works for Wm. C. Cindy (Gross) Roy, biochemistry and molecular biology, is a research fellow at the Harvard Medical School and received her doctoral degree in cell biology from Oregon Health Sciences University. She and her husband Andre reside in Brighton, Mass.

Alysen Espersen, visual and performing arts, is an interactive multimedia designer for Effective-E. She resides in Severn, Md.

Dave Hubbard, computer science, is a systems analyst for T. Rowe Price. He and his wife Kimberly (Ennis) Hubbard, information systems '00, reside in Owings Mills, Md.

Robert Miller, health science and policy, is a perfusionist at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He and his wife Jen reside in Annapolis, Md.

Bruce Perry, psychology, was honored by the Dewey Lowman American Legion Post in spring 2000 for his outstanding work as an officer of the UMBC Police Department. He resides in Silver Spring, Md.

James H. Collins, interdisciplinary studies, is the CEO of Blackout Studios, Inc. He resides in Baltimore with his wife Navasha and daughter Jamelle.

Kevin Ley, M.F.A. imaging and digital arts, is a senior information designer for Viant Corporation. He works and lives in New York, N.Y.

Sophie Elizabeth Baldwin was born on May 10, 2000, to Jennifer (Petty) Baldwin, modern languages and linguistics '93, and her husband Doug. Jennifer is a paralegal for Bowles Rice McDavid Graff and Love, PLLC. The family resides in Ripley, W.Va.

Michael Kraemer Bowler was born on Oct. 7, 2000, to Stephen Bowler, biological sciences '94, and his wife Anita Kraemer. He weighed 6 lbs. 2oz. and was 19 inches long. The family resides in Charlottesville, Va.

Louis Delano Bowles III was born to Rubi Bowles, health sciences and policy '88, and her husband Louis on Aug. 4, 2000. He joins his sisters Raedel and Mia. The family resides in White Plains, Md.

William Honablew, Jr., political science '95, and his wife Belinda were blessed with a son, Timothy Xyon, on Nov. 3, 2000. The family resides in Baltimore.

Kenneth McCormick, emergency health services '91, and Britt (Coffin) McCormick, history '90, became the proud parents of Garrett McCormick on Nov. 9, 2000. Grandmother Maureen McCormick, English '91, couldnąt wait to hold her 5 lb. 1 oz. grandson. The family resides in Oella, Md.

Molly Claire was born on June 2, 1999, to Patricia (Wiles) Miller, visual and performing arts '91, and her husband Douglas. The family resides in Catonsville, Md.

Sam Neville, emergency health services '97, and his wife Deb were blessed with Sarah Grace on June 20, 2000. The family resides in Wheaton, Md.

Julia Pireaux was born on Nov. 22, 1999, to Kelly Danielle (Shaffer) Pireaux, psychology and biological sciences '84, and her husband Jerry. The family resides in Sarasota, Fla.

Xavier Anwar James was born on Aug. 29, 2000, to Burgundy Shank, visual and performing arts '99. Burgundy is a production artist for Mail Marketing Systems. They reside in Baltimore.

Cathy Coady, information systems '89, married Paul Riddle, computer science '92, on Nov. 4, 2000. They both work for UMBC's Office of Information Technology. The couple resides in Catonsville, Md.

Pamela Jean Cole, psychology '97, married Anthony Dercola, engineering '97, on Sept. 2, 2000. Pamela is a physical therapist with Total Rehab Care at Washington County Hospital Association. Anthony works with Systems Engineering Group in Columbia, MD. The couple resides in Williamsport, Md.

Erin Colgan, sociology '98, married David Zalusky on July 22, 2000. Erin is a Health Insurance Specialist for the Health Care Financing Administration. The couple resides in Frederick, Md.

Christine Jarin, information systems and health science and policy '98, married Oliver Ramirez, information systems '97, on July 15, 2000. Christine is a database and operation specialist for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Oliver is a network engineer for ThruPoint, Inc. The couple resides in Fort Washington, Md.

Stephanie Kindle, psychology '95, married Rob Marshall in October 2000. Stephanie is a teacher in the Fairfax County public school system and is pursuing a master's degree in special education at George Mason University. The couple resides in Springfield, Va.

Rodney Walker, computer science '97, married Wendy Rodgers in September 2000. Rodney is a software engineer for Incanta, Inc. The couple resides in Marietta, Ga.
