Robert Seasonwein, history, received the U.S. Department
of State’s Franklin Award for his exceptional initiative in arranging
a meaningful interchange between the Jewish community and members of the
congressional delegations during the NATO Summit. He is resident legal
advisor for the U.S. Department of Justice and resides in Washington,
D.C. with his wife, Diana.

Melvin Sharoky, biological sciences, is president and
CEO of Somerset Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and resides in Tampa, Fla. with
his wife, Alexias.
Judith (Ring) Breen, history, is a media specialist
for Chapelgate Christian Academy and resides in Eldersberg, Md.

Thomas Dewberry, history, is chief administrative law
judge for the State of Maryland. He resides with his wife, Jamie, in Baltimore.
James Milani, political science, is director of administrative

James Roberts, biological sciences, is general counsel
for the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He resides with

George Thomas Grace, sociology, owns a cosmetic surgery
practice in the Baltimore area. He specializes in breast augmentation
and reconstruction. He resides in Baltimore.
Richard Ievoli, M.A. psychology, has been elected chair
of the Professional Psychology Board of the Pennsylvania Psychological
Association. He is the clinical director for Carelink Community Support
Services and resides in Norristown, Pa.
Ruth (Pumphrey) Raup, modern languages and linguistics
and M.A. instructional development systems ’93, is a human resources
generalist for American Wood Moulding, LLC. She was recently profiled
in Who’s Who in America and resides in Linthicum, Md. with
her son, Joshua.

Deborah Dawkins, English, joined Coldwell Banker Residential

David Pfarr, biology and M.S. biology ‘96, is
a scientist for MedImmune, Inc. and has been elected to the UMBC Alumni

wife, Judy.
Virginia (Solano) Wagner, modern languages and linguistics,
received her master’s degree in education and guidance counseling
from Bowie State University. She has been a Spanish teacher in Anne Arundel
County Public Schools for 20 years and resides in Glen Burnie, Md. with
her husband, Harry.

John Holloway, emergency health services, is a fire
and emergency medical services lieutenant for the town of Ocean City and

Lawrence Stone, visual and performing arts, is program

Greta (Sperry) Felter, sociology, is an income maintenance
specialist for the Department of Social Services. She resides with her

Robert Marrero, Ph.D. biological sciences, is senior
staff scientist and section manager for biological defense at Motorola
Life Sciences. He resides in Pasadena, Calif.

Lee (Lenker) Baber, interdisciplinary studies, is an
art, computer, speech and drama teacher for the Rockingham County Public
School System. She resides with her husband, Calvin, in Fort Valley, Va.

for the National Institutes of Health in the National Cancer Institute
and resides in Elkridge, Md.

Jeffrey Gladden, engineering, is principal engineer
in the development engineering section of the nuclear products division
of BWX Technologies. He resides in Rustburg, Va.
Shawn Robinson, information systems, is technical project
manager at Verizon Communications, Inc. and resides in Baltimore with
his wife, Roselin (Dunn) Robinson, visual and performing

Brian Buczynski, computer science, is senior programmer
for Overtime Sports and resides in Pasadena, Md. with his wife, Laura
(Nelson) Buczynski, English ’90. She is a product marketing
specialist for Achievement Technologies, Inc.
Heidi Giles, modern languages and linguistics, completed
her master’s degree in education from the University of North Carolina
in December 2002. She is manager of regulatory procedures and publications
for Southwest Airlines and resides in Dallas, Texas.
James Zerr, modern languages and linguistics, is production
manager at Eagle Publishing and resides in Ellicott City, Md. with his
wife, Lisa.

Vanessa Kauffman, modern languages and linguistics,
is head of the public relations department of the Wildlife Habitat Council.

Clarence Lowman, emergency health services, resides
in Chambersburg, Md. with his wife, Karla Lowman, biochemistry
and molecular biology ’94. She joined Keystone Health Center as
a family practice physician in November 2002.
Maureen McCormick, English, is coordinator of student
and academic programs for the Honors College at UMBC. She resides in Columbia,
Md.
Mona West, information systems, is owner, trainer and
instructor at Body by Mona, Inc. and resides in Temple Hills, Md.

Kathryn Barrett-Gaines, Africana studies, completed
a Ph.D. in African history at Stanford University. She was a professor
of African history at Xavier University and now resides in Uganda.
Patricia (Eyring) Keene, economics, is a family services
supervisor for the State of Maryland. She has received her master’s
degree in social work and her licensed graduate social worker license.
She resides in Baltimore with her husband, Gregory.
Samir Mittal, mechanical engineering, is senior staff
engineer at Seagate Technology and resides in Longmont, Colo. with his
wife, Shraddha.
Kristopher Mosby, visual and performing arts, is a visual
information specialist for Voice of America. He resides in Bowie, Md.
with his wife, Ashelyn, and daughter, Keniya.
Denise (Mesler) Ruddick, psychology, is human resources
manager for Information Network, Inc. and resides with her husband, Daniel,
in Glen Burnie, Md.
Gregory Scace, engineering, is a member of the U. S.
Sailing Team with his wife, Caroline. The couple is campaigning to represent
the United States in the 2004 Olympics. They live in Gaithersburg, Md.

Sari Benmeir, chemistry, opened her own law practice
in Durango, Colo. and resides in Boulder, Colo.
Lyle Hockenberry, geography, works at the Jersey Shore
Medical Center and resides with his wife, Gloria Hockenberry,
economics ’95, and son, Andrew, in Howell, N.J. Gloria is a contracts
manager for the Titan Corporation.

computer science ’99, is lead consultant for Impact Innovations.
She resides in Columbia, Md. with her husband, Edward Bedwell,
computer science and M.S. computer science ’99. He is a backbone
engineer for Exodus.
Dong Chung, geography and environmental systems, is
a cartographer for Macfadden and Associates, Inc. and resides in Fairfax,
Va.

Robert Hopkins, engineering, is a patent examiner at
the United States Patent and Technology Office and resides in Gaithersburg,

Kathleen Koenig-Stoffel, psychology, received a master’s
degree in developmental psychology from the Johns Hopkins University in
May 2002. She is a clinical research coordinator at the Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine. She resides in Baltimore with her husband,
Kirk Stoffel, engineering ’98. He is a medical
engineer for the Army Research Laboratories.
Justin Lewis, psychology, is loan officer for Bay Capital
Corporation and is owner and performer in New Monopoly, a show and dance
band. He resides in Owings Mills, Md.
Benjamin Schuman, visual and performing arts, is a professional
opera singer and is the co-founder and associate director of the New York
Chamber Opera. He and his wife, Danielle (Haslam) Schuman,
social work ’96, live in Jersey City, N.J. Danielle is a human resources
coordinator for New York University.
Cha Rae Scott, economics, is pursuing a master’s
degree in business administration and management technology at the University
of Phoenix. She is also a consultant for Verizon and resides in Pikesville,
Md.
Christopher Stewart, modern languages and linguistics,
is a software engineer for Hewlett Packard and resides in Tomball, Texas
with his wife, Celia, and sons, Christopher and Jonathan.

Scott Banta, engineering, received his Ph.D. in biomedical
engineering from Rutgers University in December 2001. He is completing
post-graduate work at Harvard University through Massachusetts General
