1976

Harry S. Johnson, political science, an attorney at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P., has been selected as one of America's Top Black Lawyers by Black Enterprise Magazine. He also was a winner of the The Daily Record's 2003 Leadership in Law Awards. He resides in Baltimore.

M. Blane Knauer, mathematics, is a vice president at T. Rowe Price in Baltimore.

Stephen White, psychology, is the director of claims at West Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission in Charleston, W.Va.

1977

Glenn Smink, psychology, is a cost accountant at Baltimore Spice and resides in Westminster, Md.

Thomas Wimbrow, M.D., biological sciences, is a physician at Waitemata Health. He resides in Milford, Auckland, New Zealand with his wife, Carol, son, Deen, and daughters, Ahna and Natalie.

1979

Steven Stewart, economics, is a vice president at M&T Bank in Baltimore.

Gary Stubbs, chemistry, is retired and resides in South Whitley, Ind. with his wife, Debbie.

1984

Lawrence Clark, English, is a senior policy analyst in the Democratic Whip's Office of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He resides in Mechanicsburg, Pa. with his wife, Janet, son, Michael, and daughter, Caitlyn.

1986

Orvil Edwards, economics, is a group sales manager at Macy's and resides in Paterson, N.J.

1987

John Beyer, social work, is a director of adult evaluation for the Anne Arundel County Government and resides in Ellicott City, Md. with his wife, Judi (Brocato) Beyer, social work '87, son, Sam, and daughters, Abby and Emmy.

Paul Comfort, history, is the general manager of Yellow Management, Inc. and has been appointed to a new blue ribbon commission to study the structure and efficiency of state government. He resides in Queen Anne, Md.

Paula Kraus, engineering, is a mechanical/ electrical manager at the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and resides in Perry Hall, Md. with her husband, John.

1988

Chris Baba, biochemistry and molecular biology, is a research technician at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in the Department of Physiology and resides in Frederick, Md.

1989

Dawn Hulen, health administration and policy, is a loan officer at Custom Mortgage and resides in Bethesda, Md.

1991

Michael Faber, visual and performing arts, owns Kalico Productions and resides in Marietta, Ga. with his son, William.

1992

Kristopher Mosby, visual and performing arts, is a visual information specialist at Voice of America. He resides in Bowie, Md. with his wife, Ashelyn.

Heather Stewart, biological sciences, is an anatomic pathology specialist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and resides in Towson, Md. with her daughter, Alison.

1993

Chris Gunther, theatre, is an assistant director in UMBC's Office of Residential Life and resides in Columbia, Md. with his wife, Jennifer Dotzenrod, M.P.S. policy sciences '95. She is the assistant director of admissions at UMBC.

Kaprice Harris, interdisciplinary studies, is an attorney for NASA Glenn Research Center and resides in Avon, Ohio with her husband, Stephen, son, Collin, and daughter, Kortni.

1994

Michael Fitz-Patrick, political science, is a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley and resides in Hunt Valley, Md. with his wife, Mary, daughter, Mary Kate, and son, Garrett.

Teresa Gilroy, psychology, is a contracting officer with the Department of the Navy and resides in Alexandria, Va.

Laurie Reuben, psychology, president and CEO of Cheshire Consulting Group, LLC, was recently chosen for the Leadership Howard County 2003-2004 program. She resides in Laurel, Md. with her husband, Daniel.

1995

Kellie McCants, interdisciplinary studies, is a psychologist at the Chesapeake Center and resides in Baltimore.

1996

Terrilynn Carlton, health administration and policy, is a program manager at the Department of Veterans Affairs and resides in Columbia, Md. with her husband, Kea Carlton, sociology '01, daughter, Keauna, and son, Keaun.

Peter Guerra, English, is editor-in-chief at the American Counseling Association. He resides in Stevensville, Md. with his wife, Kathleen Guerra, English '96, and daughter, Rachel.

Andre Hood, information systems, is the director of sales and marketing at Phase2 Technology and resides in Upper Marlboro, Md. with his wife, Courtney Hood, psychology '97.

Kennita Johnson, physics, received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida, where she was a graduate assistant in the department of radiological physics at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. She resides in Gainesville, Fla.

Maureen Lucas, English, works in business management at Cove Software Systems, Inc. and resides in Annapolis, Md. with her husband, Marc, and sons, John and Max.

Kelly Montgomery, English, is a health insurance advocate at the American Diabetes Association in Alexandria, Va.

Tanya Tayman, biological sciences and psychology, is a CAD specialist II at the Charles County Sheriff's Office and resides in Waldorf, Md. with her son, Dylan.

1997

Robert Bonnette, computer science, is an actuary with the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. He resides in Upper Marlboro, Md. with his wife, Kimberly (Waters) Bonnette, computer science '99. She is a proposal writer and director of research at Automated Business Systems and Services, Inc.

Kevin Griffith, M.S., molecular and cellular biology, received his Ph.D. from the UMBC Department of Biological Sciences' molecular and cell biology program in January 2003. He received the Richard E. Wolf, Jr. Doctoral Dissertation Endowment award for 2002-2003.

Karen Hechinger, American studies, is an academic advisor at UMBC and resides in Odenton, Md.

Stephen Marchetti, history, is a procurement specialist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He resides in Laurel, Md. with his wife, Suzie.

Cynthia (Amerman) Monaghan, visual and performing arts, is a graphic designer at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and resides in Baltimore with her husband, Sean Monaghan, visual and performing arts '99.

Eric Naibert, geography and environmental systems, is a parts salesman at Criswell Powersports and resides in Rockville, Md.

Sam Neville, emergency health services, is a flight paramedic for MedStar at the Washington Hospital Center. He resides in Wheaton, Md. with his wife, Deb, and daughter, Mary.

Alysen (Espersen) Regiec, visual and performing arts, is an interactive multimedia developer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and resides in Pasadena, Md. with her husband, Steve.

Zahra Safavian, visual and performing arts, is a programmer with Catalyst Solutions and resides in Baltimore with her husband, Roger.

Christine Verdon, English, is a communications manager at AdvancePCS and resides in Freeland, Md.

1998

Caren Clark, ancient studies, is the program manager of the actuarial standards board at the American Academy of Actuaries and resides in Fairfax, Va.

Catherine Daley, history, is an assistant principal at Catholic Community School and resides in Catonsville, Md. with her, Joseph, son, Sean, and daughter, Chrissy.

Susan (Bates) Denham-Supplee, English, is a contracting officer with the Department of the Navy and resides in Ruislip, United Kingdom.

Karen McLellan, political science, is a judicial clerk and resides in Lake Charles, La.

Molly (Weiss) Sasso, computer science, is a quality assurance specialist at Nemetschek NA and resides in Columbia, Md.

Lokesh Sayal, information systems, is a software engineer at Anteon Corp and resides in Gaithersburg, Md.

Andre Gudger, information systems, is the chairman and CEO of Solvern Innovations and recently received the Granville T. Woods Award for CEO of the year. He resides in Mitchellville, Md.

Megan Jones, visual and performing arts, is the director of publications at Capitol College and resides in Columbia, Md.

Alexander Lee, emergency healthy services, is a detective and agent for the Baltimore Police Department and resides in Elkridge, Md.

Sean Monaghan, visual and performing arts, see Cynthia (Amerman) Monaghan '97.

Kareem Rojas, modern languages and linguistics, works in customer service at Visa International and resides in Randallstown, Md.

Tim Ryan, emergency health services, is a senior training specialist at MPRI and resides in Rockville, Md.

Emily Sacchetti, American studies, is a pre-closer with the Corridor Mortgage Group and resides in Ellicott City, Md.

Rebecca (Brauns) Taylor, psychology, is a supervisor at Verizon and resides in Hampstead, Md. with her husband, Michael.

Sajjad Alam, computer science, is a consultant at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and resides in Chicago, Ill.

Lamont Blakely, information systems, is a computer engineer at Boeing and resides in Greenbelt, Md.

Adrian Britton, visual arts, completed his Peace Corps service as a risk youth advisor and HIV educator volunteer in Kingston, Jamaica in August 2003. He resides in West Friendship, Md.

Alicia Hobson, social work, is a service learning and recruitment specialist at Heads Up, a non-profit organization in Washington D.C. She resides in District Heights, Md. with her husband, Neil.

2001

Kenneth Keidan, environmental science, is an assistant director of engineering at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore and resides in Westminster, Md.

Bethann Ritter, political science and American studies, is an analyst of defense capabilities management for the U.S. General Accounting Office. She resides in Gaithersburg, Md.

Sandra Uter, mathematics, is a Web designer at Boeing in St. Louis, Mo.

2002

Amy Beall, sociology, is a corporate recruiter for Expert Employment Services, Inc. and resides in Hagerstown, Md. with her husband, Mathew.

Kristine (Reidemeister) Claussen, biological sciences, is a scientist at Roche Molecular Systems and resides in Long Branch, N.J.

Melissa Green, geography and environmental systems, is an assistant branch manager at Susquehanna Bank and resides in Owings Mills, Md. with her husband, Toby.

Leah Kulp, M.A., instructional systems development, is an instructional designer at SI International, Inc. and resides in Baltimore with her husband, William, and son, Douglas.

Andrea Lee, modern languages and linguistics, is the national crew drive supervisor at A.V. Imports and resides in Baltimore.

JoAnne Spotts, M.P.S., policy sciences, is the assistant chief counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and resides in Baltimore.

James Vykol, economics, is a registered representative at Legg Mason, Inc. and resides in Linthicum, Md.

Eligius Wachter, social work, is a law clerk at the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office and resides in Baltimore.

Kristen Bishel, theatre, is a stage management apprentice at the Round House Theatre and resides in Baltimore, Md.

Robert Cronin, information systems, is a network engineer with Network Management Resources and resides in Elkridge, Md.

Christopher Magaha, information systems, is a database administrator at Protocall Communications and resides in Timonium, Md.

Jessica McElvaney, dance and modern languages and linguistics, is a dance instructor at the Ballet Petite, Inc. and resides in Laurel, Md.

Daniel McNeece, emergency health services, is a firefighter and emergency medical technician at the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Station and resides in Halethorpe, Md.

Karis Pallone, health administration and policy, is a research assistant at UMBC and resides in Linthicum, Md.

Curtis Tarver, psychology, is a graduate program advisor at the University of South Florida and resides in Tampa, Fla.

Barbara Tyroler, M.F.A., imaging and digital arts, recently exhibited a collection of her photography entitled "Reconstructing Intimacy: Water Occupation and Enhanced Memory in Familial Portraiture" at the Greenbelt Art Center and led an underwater photography workshop. She resides in Greenbelt, Md.

Joseph Arnold, professor of history, age 66, passed away suddenly on Jan. 5. Arnold was a part of the UMBC faculty since 1968. Memorial contributions may be made to the UM Foundation for the UMBC Library Joseph Larkin Arnold Endowment Fund. Please send contributions in care of Tom Beck at the Albin O. Kuhn Library.

The Alumni Association verified notification of the above deaths between August and January 2004.
