A Message From The Alumni Association
November 1998Dear Fellow Alumni, On behalf of the Alumni Association and the Alumni Board, I am happy to introduce the first issue of Generations. A newsletter by, for and about the over 30,000 alumni of UMBC, Generations is the result of alumni feedback gathered through countless conversations and focus groups with alumni like you. The newsletter, the result of many UMBC staff and alumni hours, will be published three times a year and will focus on the excitement, energy and successes of our fellow alumni and alma mater. Articles will feature alumni making their mark on society, faculty and staff research and development, expansion of the university and upcoming events and opportunities. I hope that you will find this newsletter both informative and fun and that it will help reacquaint you with past friends and colleagues. I hope you will enjoy Generations and remember a publication of this magnitude requires a lot of work and support. Because Generations is solely for alumni, your input is important. If you have a suggestion or idea for the newsletter, please call the Generations staff at 410-455-2902 or e-mail them at generations@umbc.edu. This is one of the many exciting initiatives that will help to keep us better informed about UMBC and the advantages that are available to each of us as alumni. I strongly encourage you to visit our alumni web site at www.umbc.edu/Alumni/ to keep up to date on the events and news of the university and Alumni Association. UMBC is an ever-changing, dynamic force in the education of tomorrow's leaders. I encourage you to take pride in your personal successes and those of your alma mater. Sincerely,
Bill Clover '90
