Commuter Assistants (CAs)

Gabrielle Albotra Gabrielle Albotra
Gabrielle, better known by her friends and peers as Gabby, is a Senior who transferred to UMBC in Fall 2009. She has been working at OCSS since Spring 2010. As a transfer student from Ontario College of Art and Design University, she continues her undergraduate education at UMBC as a Media & Communication Studies and Art History & Museum Studies double major. She is also a Transfer Student Peer Mentor and has held executive board positions in the Filipino American Student Association. With ambitions to pursue a career in public relations and marketing, Gabby works in OCSS along with the Transfer Student Network hoping to meet new students as well as see and stay connected with familiar faces.
Queshon Cannon Queshon Cannon
Queshon is a Senior Computer Engineer major. He transferred to UMBC in Spring 2012. Since becoming a member of the UMBC community, he has been involved in numerous organizations such as National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE), Men Achieving Leadership, Excellence and Success, (M.A.L.E.S.), and Black Student Union. He works for OCSS as a Commuter Assistant with the Transfer Student Network team.
Sarina Coates Sarina Coates
Sarina graduated with her A.A. from CCBC Essex in 2011 and transferred to UMBC in the fall semester of that year. As a commuter/ transfer student, Sarina expressed interest in OCSS and is now working as a Commuter Assistant with the Transfer Student Network. In her fifth year of her undergraduate career, Sarina is looking forward to completing her degree in Health Administration and Public Policy. Sarina volunteers regularly at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and looks forward to completing her Master's degree in Public Policy.
Tiffany Cook Tiffany Cook
Tiffany is a Sophomore at UMBC. Her major is Mathematics and she plans on graduating with a certification in Elementary Education. She works with the Commuter Connection team here at OCSS. She is also affiliated with the Sherman Teacher Education Program, better known as Sherman Scholars.
Sarah Khalife Sarah Khalife
Sarah is a Junior Computer Engineering major, who has been with for OCSS since Spring 2011. She is currently working with the Commuter Connections team, and previously worked with Good Morning Commuters. In addition to being a Commuter Assistant, Sarah is part of the Academic Affairs Office in Student Government, an affiliate of the Center of Women in Technology, and a Peer Facilitator with Introduction to an Honors University.
Phillip McLaughlin Phillip McLaughlin
Phillip McLaughlin is a Senior at UMBC. He is a Graphic Design major. In addition to doing graphic design work at Off-Campus Student Services, Phillip is also a member of the Transfer Student Services team. Phillip is also an active member of FASA (Filipino American Student Association), hip hop dance group Major Definition and a Tau Sigma honorary member.
Kelly Purtell Kelly Purtell
Kelly is a first-year English major at UMBC. She began working with Off-Campus Student Services at the beginning of the fall semester, 2012. She keeps commuters healthy and happy by serving Good Morning Commuters breakfast every Tuesday morning.
Lena Radutsky Lena Radutsky
Yelena Radutskiy is a Junior at UMBC. She is better known as Lena by her friends. She is majoring in Financial Economics. She is part of Commuter Connections now and previously worked with Good Morning Commuters as well.
Marissa Regelin Marissa Regelin
Marissa is a Junior who started working as a Graphic Designer at OCSS in January 2013. She is a Graphic Design major with a Print Media minor. Marissa is part of the Linehan Artist Scholars program and is the Junior Managing Editor of Bartleby, UMBC's Creative Arts Journal. In addition to being a designer for OCSS, she works as a tour guide for the Visual Arts department.
Rich Tarlton Rich Tarlton
Rich is a Commuter Assistant with OCSS and heads up the Vets2Vets program. A Freshman at UMBC, he served 4 years active duty in the Marine Corps, and his goal is to help veterans new to UMBC find their way. Rich is majoring in Biology and hopes to become the signing physician for EMT's in Maryland.
Dean Weiss Dean Weiss
Dean transferred to UMBC as a Junior in Fall 2012 and immediately started working at OCSS. Dean is passionate about his major, mathematics, and takes it out of the classroom with the UMBC math team. Always trying to make students feel welcome, Dean is active in outreach for both Hillel and his fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi. You'll find Dean welcoming and doing puzzles with commuters every Tuesday, at Good Morning Commuters.
Matthew Yun Matthew Yun
Matthew is currently a Junior at UMBC majoring in Computer Science. In addition to leading OCSS' Tuesday morning Good Morning Commuters program, Matt is also the webmaster for the Student Government Association.
