Meet our Commuter Assistants

Hello there, my name is Vu Nguyen and I’m a Commuter Assistant at OCSS. Originally from Vietnam, I speak both Vietnamese and English fluently. I like to be active and some of my favorite hobbies and interests are soccer, football, badminton, and working out.  Food is a big passion for me, especially dishes like Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Bibimbap, and Sushi. Academically, I’m into math and physics. I also enjoy some light reading, particularly horror and mystery genres. As a Commuter Assistant, I love to talk with people about anything, either Commuter or non-comuter-related topics. Since I like to help commuter students at UMBC, a valuable tip that I have is to hang around campus later to catch the evening’s vibrant activities and events.

Hello, My name is Yves-Noel Forbang, a computer science undergrad here at UMBC (Senior). I’m Cameroonian, so I speak English and French. When I’m not learning or working, I’m definitely doing something soccer-related. Moreover, I love striking up conversations with people, particularly about travel, money, career, and business. I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Commuter Assistant team, and I can’t wait to add some extra zest to your college experience.

Hello, my name is Demetrius McGuffin, and I am a third-year student at UMBC studying Geography and Environmental Systems. I plan on using my major as a gateway to becoming an Urban Planner. I love being involved on campus, so whether it’s at Good Morning Commuters or at the bonfire, you’ll see me there. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, exploring downtown Baltimore, and hanging out with friends. I can’t wait to see you all on campus, and I’m looking forward to being of assistance!

Hello, my name is Inioluwa Oluseyi and, I go by Ini. I am a third-year student at UMBC, currently studying Biological Sciences, with a minor in Chemistry. I am on the pre-med track. I love reading novels of different genres. I also enjoy watching Asian dramas in my spare time. I am excited to be part of OCSS, and ensure that commuter students enjoy their time at UMBC. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hey there! I’m Nadeem Nasser, a senior Mechanical Engineering student at UMBC. I am originally from Jordan, and I’ve been calling the US home for the past five years. I’m a big fan of cars, adore animals (I’ve got three horses back in Jordan) also I did own many house pets, almost more than you could think of. I’m absolutely crazy about soccer, especially Barcelona (Visca Barca!). I also love connecting with people from different backgrounds, so if you see me around, feel free to say hi!
