Making Requests to the UMBC Office of Institutional Research

Since the Office of Institutional Research is the source of much "official" information about UMBC, we get many requests for data. In an effort to provide better service and management of these requests, we are recommending the following procedures:

Prior to contacting OIR please review the publicly available resources on the OIR web page.
A large percentage of the answers to questions we are asked are found in these materials.

OIR Web Site

You should also consult OIR's "UMBC Institutional Databook". It contains many many tables on Enrollments, Undergraduates, Grad Students, Commuters, New Freshmen, New Transfers, New Grad Students, SAT Scores, Summer/Winter Sessions, Degrees Awarded, Credit Hours, Alumni, Faculty, Staff, Financial Aid, Finances.

By all means, please feel free to contact us with "quick" questions or if you need any assistance with preparing a data request or navigating through our resources. (410.455.2111)

If the information you are looking for is not available from the resources above, please complete and send the attached Data Request Form. Our preference is to receive requests for data in writing so that we can monitor and track what is being requested. By doing so, we become more aware of the campus needs for information and can adjust our publications accordingly. Within 24 hours of our receiving your request we will respond by phone or e-mail to let you know when to expect the information (allow a minimum of two weeks). Depending on the complexity of the request, the time of year, and the volume of other requests we're receiving, it may take anywhere from 3 days to several weeks. Requests can be forwarded by mail (Room 403 AD), e-mail (krach@umbc.edu <mailto:krach@umbc.edu>), or FAX (410.455.1126).
