Wireless Access

(Temporary Use with Limited Access)

If a university department is expecting a guest who will need access to the Internet, they should follow this procedure.

Guests are defined as:

  • unpaid persons who are at the university as if staff
  • assigned to a specified department
  • here for a finite time with a set start and end date
  • here for a specific purpose related to the business of the university
  • do not fall into another category of non-paid staff

Examples would be exchange lecturers, visiting lecturers from international universities, auditors, work placements and temporary staff who are not members of the University HR database.

Guest accounts will provide:

  • Internet access via wireless
  • no email account; the guest should use their own personal email or apply for a account from yahoo.com or similar free email service

There is no charge for this service. Any wanted files must be saved to a separate file store (eg floppy disk or USB pen) before the end of the visit.
