generating a myUMBC account you have access to our myUMBC web portal
and an email account, which provides you with access to the most
common computing services provided at UMBC. All faculty staff and
students are eligible to generate a myUMBC account while existing
GL and UMBC7 account holders should consider these accounts as their
myUMBC account. Generating a myUMBC account is as easy as filling
our a web form. The UMBC online account management system allows
you to choose your own username and password. Once this is submitted
your myUMBC account will be created within 30 minutes. Your myUMBC
account provides you email access, web publishing, file space, and
an assortment of business services (e.g. register for classes, update
personal information, and much more).

| ORACLE |
ORACLE is a database management system (DBMS). UMBC has a license
for Oracle and has created a machine named Oracle.gl.umbc.edu that
provides DBMS services to courses and instructional users. Faculty
may request Oracle accounts to be used in the course. To do so,
please mail to systems@umbc.edu the list of students taking your
course utilizing Oracle, which can be done by accessing the myUMBC
portal. Students are eligible for accounts while they are enrolled
in classes which require access to the Oracle server.

CALENDAR
is groupware that allows you to track personal appointments and
events. It allows people to work together collectively while located
remotely from each other. Faculty and staff are eligible to request
calendar accounts to be used at UMBC.To download the CorporateTime

HP
is the mainframe of the University where many administrative services
are housed. These services include the Student Information System,
Financials and Human Resources. Permission from the Department Chair
is required to request an HP account.

| TITAN |
TITAN
is a computational server for faculty and graduate students performing
research. Titan is intended for large-scale computational problems
previously requiring SuperComputer access. This machine is intended
to run research-related problems that are computational demanding
or require memory or disk resources unavailable on the other Unix
systems. This machine is NOT intended as a general purpose computing
machine. Accounts on Titan require the approval of the Chief Information
Officer (CIO).

People here for a short, fixed time; the name is known in advance. Eg: visiting auditors, exchange or visiting lecturers, temp staff NOT on university HR database, or work placements. This account will only have Internet access over the wireless network - no email, no lab access, no dial-up services.
