Set your Mac Laptop up for use with a Data Projector

Click Here To Download These Instructions in PDF Format

1.Plug your turned off Mac into the VGA cable from the Data Projector using your DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. Turn the Data Projector on and give the unit time to completely start up (this may take a few minutes) Then start up your Mac.

Normally your Mac will detect the projector and you will see your Laptop desktop in both places. If you do not see the same desktop in both places (usually you are seeing an Extended Desktop or worse nothing at all) then you may have to change the basic display settings on your Mac.

2. Check All Cables

3. Reboot your Mac a second time, you would be surprised how often this works, really

4. Look under your Apple Menu in the upper Left-Hand corner select System Preferences

5. When System Preferences is opened then click Displays under Hardware

6. If your not seeing anything on the Data Projector then your Displays Control Panel might look something like this, showing you only the information for your single Desktop. Note the Detect Displays Button in the lower right-hand corner, click that button. Your Mac should then show you the information for Both screens, your Laptop and the Projector. Then Click on the Arrangement button.

7. Note the Mirror Displays check box. Check that box. Your Mac should now be showing your Mac laptop desktop in both locations and the Displays Control Panel will look something like this:

8. Close the Control Panel
