Availabilty:AFS

From Syscore

User Data Storage

AFS data storage is currently mirrored between identical storage in our ENG and Public Policy datacenters. This gives us the ability to perform maintenance on components of the system without affecting service, in addition to giving us up-to-the-second survivabilty of data in the case of an unexpected even in either datacenter.

Our AFS servers, however are not redundant. However, it is possible to "import" the data that is being served off of one server to another, manually, in the case of a hardware failure. Planned AFS server maintenance is typically done by migrating data from server-to-server during normal production.

Infrastructure Data Storage

Infrastructure volumes are mirrored between two redundant servers, each located in a different datacenter. The AFS client software provides transparent failover between these servers in the case of an outage or maintenance event.
