Physical servers

• Read-only servers on 2 Sun E280R systems:
  1. ldap-rep1.umbc.edu
  2. ldap-rep2.umbc.edu
• Master server on SunFire V240
  • ldap-master.umbc.edu
  • Live master data housed on our Core Storage Fabric
    • Mirrored between the ECS and Public Policy datacenters

LDAP directory services

• Populating and updating
  • Into LDAP
    • There is an asynchronous two-way data flow between Syscore's LDAP server and UMBC's SIS and PeopleSoft business systems
    • LDAP is populated and updated from PeopleSoft HR and SIS
    • PeopleSoft and SIS, in turn, receive nightly batch updates from the LDAP server
  • From LDAP
    • Blackboard and other time-sensitive applications get near real-time updates (on information such as class rosters, etc.)
