Department Web Site Training

Through a partnership with the Division of Professional Education and Training, OIT is offering UMBC employees training in how to create and maintain departmental web sites. This training provides the basic skills necessary to maintain a department web site at UMBC using HTML and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Skills covered will include building web pages, working with graphics, links, tables, forms and UMBC web templates. Training in how to upload your web pages to your department's web site will also be covered.

Knowledge of HTML is required. Participants registering for the Dreamweaver 2-day class must first be certified by Cinecom Corp. in HTML modules 1 and 3 by January 8, 2003. Cinecom accounts are free to faculty and staff but faculty and staff must register for their Cinecom account by contacting the OIT Helpdesk. Contact the OIT Helpdesk online using the Web at http://www.umbc.edu/oit/helpdesk/workorder.html. When requesting your Cinecom account Include HTML certification in the short description field.

Prerequisites	Familiarity with PC concepts and technology Experience using MS Windows Experience using the Web Dreamweaver software installed on PC HTML Cinecom Certification (for 2 day class) in HTML modules 1 & 3 (No Charge)
Course Description	Dreamweaver 2-day class (Next Class: January 15, 17, 2003) Cost $300.00 HTML "plus" Dreamweaver 3-day class (Next Class: January 13, 15, 17, 2003) Cost $450 Note: These classes have been cancelled due to low registration.
Web Certification	A Web Professional Certification Program is offered by the UMBC Department of Professional education and Training

UMBC Web Developers Blackboard Community	All those participating the the Department Web Site Training will be enrolled in the UMBC Web Developers Blackboard Community, which serves as a common support group resource.
OIT Training Schedule	The Training Schedule includes: Blackboard workshops, Department Web Site Training, Microsoft Application classes: Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
