Antivirus Software - McAfee UMBC has
a campus-wide site license for McAfee antivirus products. As such, all
computers connected to the UMBC network (wireless, LAN, dialup) should
be running antivirus software. Virus definitions
are updated frequently - almost every week. If you installed a pre-configured
version or if you installed a standard version, the Auto Update updates
the virus definition files (typically known as DAT files) automatically
as scheduled. To check
the status of the updates, right click on the VShield in the task bar
and click on About
 The dialog
box showing the information about VirusScan opens up. It shows the Virus
definitions version. Verify with the current DAT version posted on OIT's
Security site.
