Winzip

WinZip is an application that lets you create an archive or extract files from an archive. An archive is a single file that holds a number of files packaged or collected together. When WinZip packages a collection of files, it compresses them in size so that you can store or distribute them more efficiently.

You may want to archive files:

  • for backup,
  • to transport to some other location,
  • for saving away from the computer so that more hard disk storage can be made available
