myUMBC will change on January 6
When you log into my.umbc.edu on January 6, it will look a bit different from what you’re used to seeing. The new myUMBC is built on a different, more scalable platform that will ultimately provide more services to faculty, staff and students.
If, for any reason, you are confused by the new look or can’t get to something you need, you can easily switch to the old, familiar view by clicking on the “Olde myUMBC” button in the upper left corner.
The old version of the portal will remain active until February 17. After that date, the new portal will become our only myUMBC portal. The look, for now, is similar to what you’re used to seeing. We hope to begin adding functionality, features and a new look later in 2006.
You can get a sneak preview of the new portal by clicking on mybeta.umbc.edu. You’ll find a “feedback” link at the top of this test version of the new portal. Please use it to let us know what you think.

I prefer the original myUMBC to the new beta style. Although this is definitely quicker to access folders and links, the layout does not look as classy or as "finished" as the old one did. Perhaps the Beta version just needs some "visual enhancement" like Pamela Anderson did. Good luck!

Ghange is good. But I hope there are no glitches or problems with the new system. I guess I will see what the benefits of changing are once I view it and access it personally.

I logged onto myUMBC account and I cannot look at my grades or other functions available on the new portal. There is an error message that is displayed (This channel failed to accept needed data)
Is there something I need to do in order to register for classes?
Thank you,

I have a similar problem on the new site...none of my academic info will display and it gives error messages.

now it won't even let me log on to the new version...just gives me a message that the destination cannot be found. Is this because they are making adjustments and have temporarily shut it down?

I definitely prefer the new page to the old one. It's more efficient and pragmatic which is always good imo. Besides, blue's way better than red anyways.

The new site is difficult to use, but that's going to be a problem for any user making a transition, any IS major would know there will be several user complaints. I would suggest making the links either larger or more spaced apart, so as to make easier access with the mouse icon. Most people log on to check their email and it should be easier to click on the links.

i'm all down for change, but i don't see a big difference b/w the new and the old style. the newer one is weird, but i guess with time, i'll get used to it. i like it b/c i don't have to scroll down alot to get some links (ex: grades, transcripts, etc)
