UMBC RedHat Modem Configuration for UMBC Recommended Machines

The following steps must be followed to get the modem to work under UMBC RedHat:

1. Login as root or su to root
2. Run /usr/sbin/hcfpciconfig, and hit <Enter> for each of the questions (accept the default options)

Your modem is now configured. The modem is accessable as /dev/modem.

Modem Access and Kernel Upgrade

If you upgrade your kernel, you will need to perform the above steps again to access your modem. Make sure the version of your kernel-source package matches your installed kernel version.
