Printing Configuration for UMBC RedHat Linux

The following steps will allow you to access the printers available at the UMBC Campus:

1. Login as root or su to root
2. Add the following lines to the end of /etc/lpd.conf

   default_remote_host=printhost.umbc.edu
   default_printer=<default printer>

   Replace <default printer> with the name of your prefered printer.

You should now have access to the printers at UMBC. If you do not specify a printer when using lpr, your print jobs will go to the <default printer> defined in your /etc/lpd.conf file.
