Configuring Sound After Installation

Configuring the Sound Card is a simple procedure, just follow these steps:

  1. Login as root
  2. Run /usr/sbin/sndconfig in an xterm (this is a text based program)
  3. Select OK for Probing for PnP cards
  4. If the detected card is correct, Select OK
  5. Select OK to play the test sound
  6. If you heard the test sound, Select YES and Select OK on the next screen

If you do not hear the test sound, you will have to configure your sound card manually. You will need to follow the menus for manual configuration. In most cases, this will configure your Sound Card correctly. For further information on using sndconfig please consult the RedHat Trouble Shooting Page for Sound Cards.
