February 2008Hey Band, Andrew Cleveland here. Congratulations to the men's team on becoming the America East Regular Seasons Champions! They have been playing amazing lately and it shows! Here's your mission pep band: Go find a basketball player on the men's team and congratulate them on the win! But the season isn't over yet...in fact, it's far from over... Now comes the fun part... With only 2 games left (both away unfortunately) the post season is coming up quickly. Study for your exams, make arrangements to miss class, and get lots of rest because in a short pair of weeks we will be going up with the team to root them on in Binghamton, NY! For those of you who don't know... Tournament trips are a lot of fun. Start looking for a room buddy if you didn't already have one in mind. The last thing you want to do is get separated from your friends when all it takes is some simple planning. Don't get me wrong, everybody in the band is AWESOME in my book (*wink wink*) so there is no BAD room mate situation, but everyone is different, so just plan ahead. We also have a pair of women's basketball games coming up in the next week. Let's help the lady dawgs finish strong this season!!! More info on the tournaments to come... Go Big Dawgs! PS. I could use a few more suggestions for new songs to bring to the tournament! I'm a quick writer and all, but you have to give me SOME time to work on it! Email me with your suggestions!

Hey Band, Andrew Cleveland here. Way to go Big Dawgs! Another 'W' in the books means we are one step closer to being season champs of the AEC. However, I just have one comment, hear me out... Yes, games like last nights are fun...afterwards. Yes, a greater feeling of winning is felt....afterwards. During the game, every ounce of yell and cheer and stomp is squeezed out of you're body as you're trying to help make a difference. It is just so draining, and I haven't even mentioned the fact that we have to play our instruments throughout the game as well! So here is my comment. All of you in the band are going above and beyond the call of duty of any fan watching their basketball game. THANK YOU! The worst thing I can see is someone just sitting in a crowd of jumping, screaming people not contributing to the success of their home team. So please, bug your friends to jump, shout, yell, or clap for the team! ESPECIALLY IF YOUR FRIENDS ARE IN THE PEP BAND! ;-) On another note (no pun intended) I'm considering writing out an arrangement for the pepband for the tournaments this year. Any suggestions??? PLEASE leave a comment or just send me an email through the contact page. Thanks again guys, good luck with the first round of finals coming up! -Andrew Cleveland

Hey Band, Andrew Cleveland here. Are you prepared for one of the most crazy games in the America East conference?!? Yeah, it's going to be electric. Boston U. (who is on a 5 game winning streak right now) is coming to the UMBC RAC arena for a 4pm game. UMBC (GO BIG DAWGS) is also on a 5 game winning streak AND it's alumni day today. Like I said, it's going to be electric. Be there to help break the record for attendance! More to report after the game! Beat Boston U!

Hey guys! Andrew Cleveland here, and I've decided to start a Pep Band Post (which I shall lovingly call PBP) and try and spark readers interest in all things pep band! I won't lie, I might just spill a little over into my own personal takes on music, life, sports, and all the things that come attached. Because there's more to a pep band member than just pep band right? OF COURSE! And speaking of courses, we're here in week three of spring semester 2008. Undoubtedly some of you have first exams coming up. Here's a tip from someone who's been through most of his core classes. FIND A STUDY BUDDY I guarantee you'll not only do better, but you might learn something as well. I don't want to go into TOO much rant on this first post, so I'll keep it short. I'm here to answer questions, respond to comments, and really just about anything that can be somehow construed as mildly pertaining to Pep Band (and everything else). On a final note, if you have not heard, Tony Kornheiser talked about the band in his radio show . Check him out talking about UMBC and the Band in the last 15 minutes of his show! Click the play button on the Press page. Until next time, I'm Andrew Cleveland. Questions? Concerns? Smart Comments? Write a reply! OR Email me through the contact page!
