Course Credit

Starting in Spring 2011, PHED 193 became a class: Pep and Marching Band. This course provides the opportunity for students to develop and improve their musical and marching skills. Students will learn music of different styles and gain experience performing with a large ensemble. Students will also gain knowledge of marching fundamentals, including drill reading, 8-to-5, march-offs, and parade commands. The act of playing music and marching in an ensemble combines a variety of physical elements, including cardio-respiratory, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Students are expected to strive for a higher level of physical fitness by the end of this course.

Students must play an instrument used in a pep or marching band. Please note that at this time, we are not accepting color guard members.

The course will be offered Spring Semester 2012. The course is not offered Fall 2011. By signing up for the course, you are also commiting to being a member of our ensemble. You do not need to sign up for the course to be in the band, but we highly encourage band members to sign up.

This course can be taken multiple times, and can fulfill your Physical Education GEP requirement!
