Paul Wetzstein

Paul Wetzstein was a military brat and thus never could really feel that he had a hometown although he has spent a consecutive 9 years in Maryland this time around. Paul first picked up a trumpet when he was 14 when he saw his friend playing a jazz show. Throughout all 4 years of high school, he played the trumpet, tuba, and trombone filling in wherever he was needed. In 2004, Paul graduated from Long Reach High School in Columbia, Maryland and was accepted into the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he is majoring in music education and minoring in astronomy. That same friend that got him into the trumpet was already a member of the UMBC pepband and got him to come out. He now plays the trombone for the UMBC pepband and his favorite tune to play is You Give Love a Bad Name which actually features the trumpets (his first love).
