Douglas Nivens, II was recepient of the Political Science Outstanding Scholar Leader Award at the Spring 2008 Reception.

Shane Spencer, a UMBC sophomore majoring in Political Science and Communication and Media Studies, has co-won a health policy essay competition run by the Kaiser Family Foundation. (Click here to learn about the award). She tied with a student from Yale in the undergraduate competition. Shane is a Sondheim Scholar .
