Scholarships and Awards

Each year, the department recognizes exceptional students for their outstanding scholastic performance, leadership, and contribution to the department. Recipients of the following three awards are selected by faculty and require no application.

UMBC's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships offers many resources to assist in securing educational funding.

For prospective freshman, UMBC offers need-based and merit-based aid. Top students interested in political science and public service should apply to the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program, UMBC's four-year scholarship program for students interested in careers in government, law, non-profits, corporations and the community. This competitive program combines financial awards with special opportunities for advanced research, unique seminars, directed internships, study abroad and service to the community.
