Health Care Reform: What Will It
Mean to Maryland?

Friday, October 22, 2010, 8:00–10:30 a.m.
Constellation Room, 21st Floor, World Trade Center
401 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD

Sponsored by The Annie E. Casey Foundation, the UMBC Department of Public Policy, The Hilltop Institute, and The Maryland Institute for Policy Analysis and Research

The new federal health care reform legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), requires fundamental changes to virtually every aspect of our health care system over the next few years. Most of the decisions about implementation have been left to the states. In Maryland, the Health Care Reform Coordinating Council is developing recommendations for the major aspects of reform implementation.

The new requirements for expanded coverage, such as insurance exchanges, subsidies for individuals and employers, and mandates, present a number of significant policy issues. This forum is intended to describe how Maryland plans to implement health care reform, with a focus on the impact of expanded coverage for working families. Join our panel of health care experts for an informed discussion of this new health care system in Maryland.
