Freeman Hrabowski on Knowing Success Is Never Final

"UMBC’s current strengths reflect a solid foundation—honed by years of careful thinking, ambitious planning, and the ability to make hard decisions. Our future is being shaped by the same process.

We developed a University-wide planning process four years ago with a commitment to pragmatic planning and action focused on strategic issues key to UMBC’s future. The process is distinguished by broad participation, openness, and accountability. More than 100 faculty, staff, and students have served on task forces to develop goals and action steps for issues ranging from enrollment management, advising, and continuing education, to UMBC’s development as an honors university, building the research culture and environment, and advancing student life.

The conversations and ideas that this process has generated are incredibly exciting."
