Office Location
The PreMedical and PreDental Advising Office is located in Room 116 University Center, within the Dean’s Suite of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. The Comm Store, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-A are at the opposite end of the hall from our office. When visiting, please be sure to check-in at the front desk. If the front desk is unattended, please check-in with Mrs. Caplan in Room 116A.
Current UMBC Students
Current UMBC students are encouraged to join the society listserv that is aligned with their particular career interest area: the Pre-Medical (includes pre-medical, pre-optometry, and pre-podiatry), Pre-Dental, or Pre-Veterinary Student Society. Visit UMBC’s Student Organizations List to learn more. Only current UMBC students or alumni may register with these listservs.
Weekly walkin hours and appointment instructions are posted via the student listservs and at the front desk of the PreMedical and PreDental Advising Office. Appointment sign-ups for current UMBC students are available at the front desk of the office in University Center 116. Please include your name and email address when you sign-up. Sign-ups are on a first come, first served basis. In order to avoid double-booking appointments, requests must be made in-person. Those made via email or phone will not be honored. Please ask the front desk receptionist for assistance if you have a question. When you visit the office, please be sure to check-in at the front desk. If the front desk is unattended, please check-in with Mrs. Caplan in Room 116A.
UMBC Alumni
UMBC alumni who are interested in applying to professional school are encouraged to join the society listserv that is aligned with their particular career interest area: the Pre-Medical (includes pre-medical, pre-optometry, and pre-podiatry), Pre-Dental, or Pre-Veterinary Student Society. Visit UMBC’s Student Organizations List to learn more. Only current UMBC students or alumni may register with these listservs.
Walkin hours are designed for current students. UMBC alumni who are not currently taking classes at UMBC should email Ms. Roelke for an appointment rather than visiting the office via Walkin hours. Please include your full name, UMBC email address, date of graduation, major, career interest area, and three dates and times that you are available for an appointment. When you visit the office, please be sure to check-in at the front desk. If the front desk is unattended, please check-in with Mrs. Caplan in Room 116A.
UMBC Alumni who are interested applying to medical or dental school with the assistance of the Health Professions Evaluation Committee, should email Ms. Roelke before the end of November, two years in advance of their expected matriculation to medical or dental school. The annual cohort kick-off workshop is always held in November or December. For example, the kick-off workshop for the Fall 2014 Cohort (expected matriculation to professional school in Fall 2014) will be held in November or December 2012. Alumni who are interested in being a part of the Fall 2014 Cohort, should simply email Ms. Roelke before the end of November 2012 to make her aware of their interest in joining the 2014 Cohort. |
