The American Institute of Chemical Engineers extends its deepest sympathy to the family, friends, faculty, staff, and UMBC community in the tragic loss of Jessica Soto Perez.
Jessica was a talented young chemical engineer, an enthusiastic colleague and generous friend. Her mentoring of students is a lasting example to chemical engineers both young and old.
With her death, the chemical engineering community has lost a bright star. Yet Jessica's legacy of mentoring and enthusiastic spirit will continue to shine forth in the many lives that she touched.
Please know that our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
With deepest sympathies,
William D. Byers
President, The American Institute of Chemical Engineers
