The Vice Provost for Academic Affairs works with the Provost, the Collegiate Deans, the Dean of Undergraduate Education and the Dean of the Graduate School. Dr. Moreira oversees the following divisions: Library & Gallery, Interdisciplinary Studies, International Education Services, International Programs, Center for Health Program Development and Management and Center for Women and Information Technology. He is responsible for space issues in the Provost's Office. He provides budget plans for the divisions reporting to the office as well as providing support in the Sciences and Engineering area. He is involved with the development of new academic programs and the periodic review of current academic programs. Dr. Moreira is taking the lead within Academic Affairs for the planning efforts for the new Performing Arts & Humanities Facility. He chairs the campus IT Steering Committee and the Classroom Committee. Dr. Moreira represents UMBC in the Council of Biotechnology Centers of the BIO Industry Organization. He maintains his teaching and research responsibilities in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, coordinates the Biochemical Regulatory Engineering program, and is involved with interfacing with the PDA Training Research Institute.
