As Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Beth works on a wide range of ongoing and special projects related to UMBC curriculum, faculty, and students. With the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and faculty, she coordinates the campus and external review of academic programs, as well as the development and internal/external review of proposed new academic programs. In collaboration with the Faculty Development Center, Beth plans and coordinates New Faculty Welcome. She chairs UMBC's Academic Calendar Committee and oversees planning for the Commencement, Convocation, and Presidential Faculty/Staff Award ceremonies. Beth serves as the UMBC coordinator for the Academic Common Market and provides leadership for the Staff Awards Committee. Each fall, Beth teaches a section of Introduction to an Honors University for freshmen. On a routine basis, she assists the Provost and the Vice Provosts by representing them at meetings and by conducting research and developing documents related to UMBC's academic mission. Beth earned her B.A. at UMBC in 1974 and her M.A. at UMCP in 1979, and has 22 years experience in higher education.
