The Vice Provost for Undergraduate and Professional Education works with the
Provost and campus on all matters affecting student academic affairs. As Special
Assistant to the President for Education Initiatives, Dr. Lee represents UMBC
in a number of state-wide initiatives, including K-16
and The Professional Standards and Teacher
Education Board. At the national level, Dr. Lee has represented UMBC in
working with groups including the Greater
Expectations Initiative of the Association of American Colleges and Universities
and the Eastern Education Research Association.
In 2000-2001, she co-chaired the writing of UMBC's Periodic
Review Report for the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle
States Association of Colleges and Schools.
As recommendations of the Honors Task Force continue to be studied, modified and implemented, Dr. Lee works with other campus leaders in revisioning and redesigning the undergraduate experience through First Year Academic Seminars, student success seminars (providing an introduction to an Honors University) and undergraduate research, including Undergraduate Research Awards, Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day, and The UMBC Review. Dr. Lee also leads such initiatives as Writing in the Discipline and Academic Integrity. Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor in UMBC's Department of Education.
