Michael serves as the Provost's Project Director and currently leads a team of UMBC employees and consultants during UMBC's multi-year implementation of PeopleSoft's Student Administration software suite, including modules for Recruitment, Admissions, Student Records, Student Billing, Financial Aid and Academic Advisement. Additionally, he leads change management efforts with faculty and students as the new system is tested and rolled out.
Michael advises the Provost on technology initiatives and acts as his liaison to Vice Presidents and Deans, department Chairs, faculty, academic affairs support units, the Department of Information Technology and various other campus constituencies and self-governance bodies. He chairs several committees and work groups, including the Student Administration Executive Steering Committee.
Before joining UMBC in 2004, Michael
worked for several years as a consultant to universities throughout the University
System of Maryland and the United States, and he was an Asstant Professor of
Modern Languages at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC for
eight years. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Düsseldorf
in Germany and from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
