The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
works with the Provost, the Dean of Arts & Sciences, and the Dean of Engineering
on all matters directly affecting faculty. These include recruitment and
appointment, promotion and tenure, review of tenured faculty, faculty development,
and faculty awards. In collaboration with other Vice Provosts and campus
administrators, she is responsible for dissemination of UMBC's new program proposals
for on-campus and off-campus review and for coordination of UMBC's response
to program proposals from other institutions in the state. She represents
the Office of Provost in the review of UMBC's undergraduate and graduate programs
and is the Provost's liaison with the Faculty Senate. She is also responsible
for preparation of several external reports to the University System of Maryland,
the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Middle States Association.
Dr. Demorest is a Professor in the Department of Psychology.
