Robert Provine teaches a variety of courses, most of which concern interdisciplinary approaches to the biological, developmental, and evolutionary bases of behavior. He is particularly committed to engaging students in research; most of the co-authors of his research papers are university undergraduates, many of whom have gone on to medical and graduate school. A common theme running through his courses is the "Neuropsychology of Everyday Life" and "Sidewalk Neuroscience," the use of simple demonstrations and naturalistic observations to gain insights into brain function. Professor Provine is engaged in a variety of projects using the broadcast and print media to increase the public awareness of research in behavioral neuroscience.
