to children’s reading and math development.
- Christy Leung, Andrew Yu, and Sevgi Bayram
Ozdemir (with Charissa Cheah) - - This project focuses on Chinese,
and Korean immigrant families with 3-5 year old children. The parents'

parenting beliefs and practices are examined, in relation to their preschool
children's social emotional development, social skills, and transition
into American society.
- Kelly Sheperd and Madiha Tahseen
(with Charissa Cheah) - - This project examines the development of adolescent
parents and their infants, specifically, the adolescents' transition
into adulthood and their parenting behaviors, their relationships and
social support networks, and the interactive role of child characteristics,
in predicting their child's developmental outcomes.
- Kathy Bohner and Archana Ambike
(with David Schultz) - - Working on the Heart & Mind Study, a project
examining influences upon disruptive behavior in preschool: family,
neighborhood, children's thinking patterns, and children's physiological
arousal patterns. Among other responsibilities, Kathy supervises
behavioral observations of children in their classrooms, and Archana
